I highly endorse this substance abuse program for those ready to reclaim their lives. The key to being successful in this program is being open and ready for change. Kolmac staff is caring and supportive. I find it especially attractive that this program allows patients to continue to work or go to school at the same time as being in treatment. It also offers a continuing care program for up to one year after the initial treatment has been completed. It gives patients the tools to overcome their addictions and assists with bridging them into outside support programs. It truly can be a life-altering experience. Kolmac also offers weekly group therapy for family members. It assists with the healing and support of family and spouses that have also been affected. With this program, I have witnessed loved ones achieve happiness and successes they felt were once unattainable. Those loved ones have been able to maintain their healthy state and personal peace. For one friend it has been 30 years of sobriety and for another loved one it has been 17 years substance free. Recently, one more loved one has completed this program. Kolmac continues to awe me by the life transformations it enables. Entrust yourself or your loved one. You will not be disappointed.

Kolmac Clinic saved my life. I know that statement is cliché for a person emerging from addiction treatment. We're on the "pink cloud" and feeling grateful to God and the 12 Steps and the clinics that took us in and brought us back from edge of destruction. Except I didn't get clean a few days, weeks or months ago. My treatment for opioid dependence at Kolmac began in 2011 and ended in 2012, and I have been drug and alcohol free ever since. What I appreciated about Kolmac was how adult I felt undergoing their process. This was not boot camp style, do-as-you're-told rehab, nor was it a center for coddling and placating the patient with a lot of juvenile nonsense. At Kolmac, there was a clear message that changing my life was my own responsibility. I worked full time and went to Kolmac in the evenings. I didn't miss sessions and I didn't use. I had already been through two inpatient treatments and one outpatient, and I relapsed. Perhaps my willingness to succeed had a lot to do with simply being older and more fed up with addiction by the time I found Kolmac. But I also believe the previous treatments had not worked because they infantalicized rather than empowered addicts, and that was NOT the approach I needed to get on my feet and stand strong. I also realize I was fortunate to have a good job and health insurance that paid 100 percent of my care, so I was free to concentrate on recovery without concerns about how expensive Kolmac was. I completed the standard six-month program and did another six months of aftercare. The only negative thing I have to say about Kolmac is its reliance on treating people with Suboxone. I had previously been on Suboxone for several months after being released from inpatient treatment, so I knew how that felt. Withdrawal from Suboxone had been hell, even though I did a slow step down. When I got to Kolmac, I decided I would not stay on Suboxone for more than a couple of weeks, and I didn't. The Kolmac psychiatrist was initially very suspicious of my refusal to take the medication. But since I continued in the program and never once failed a drug test, he couldn't fault me. My counselor was also in my corner. She understood my determination to be completely drug free and to use only the tools of individual and group therapy in my own recovery. I know many heroin and opioid addicts people swear by Suboxone and fear they cannot live life normally without it. They do not even want to take the chance. But I am living proof it is possible to be clean and not be a slave to yet another narcotic. At Kolmac I finally "got" the concept of one day at a time. That was huge for me, and still is. I am not perfect, I don't have all the answers, but I am proud of getting clean and being OK today. I don't have drugs weighing me down or causing worry about how I am going to stay "on the path" without a crutch.

This is not AA or a "step" program. This is a clinic that many people are referred to after in-patient care. You go there to help yourself, not the other way around. It's a medical clinic and if you shows signs of not wanting that help, you shouldn't be there. They highly recommend that you attend a step program in addition to your treatment at Kolmac. All staff have been in treatment themselves. I think it's a very reputable clinic with a unique treatment system and 24/7 availability.

@Mark: she isnt an RN, she is a nurse practitioner who is legally allowed to not only dispense medications (as all nurses are as per a doctors instructions) but also allowed to prescribe many medications herself. Please get your facts correct.
